ZZ Top / Grand Funk Railroad / .38 Special Unlike many of their 1970s brethren, ZZ Top were still kicking ass when they entered their second full decade. (Plenty of enthusiasts would argue that 1981’s El Loco and 1983’s Eliminator are essential releases.) Hence, there was a ton of top-tier boogying to be done during their sizable 1982 live run, especially in January (when they were rocking out beside Grand Funk Railroad) or September (when they were rocking out beside .38 Special). The former act was fresh off their comeback album, Grand Funk Lives, and the latter had their highest-charting record, Special Forces, to keep audiences riveted. Hell yes. Loudwire
