Judas Priest are likely to appear on a lot of lists discussing pioneers of different metal subgenres, because they truly influenced a wide spectrum of later bands. Priest took the blues influence out of the heavy metal that was popular earlier in the decade and added speed, immense vocals and a lot of studs and leather — all important aspects of the development of thrash.
