Gene Simmons Says KISS Was Ahead Of The Beatles And The Rolling Stones Even In The Late ’70s
During his interview with Good Day Sacramento, KISS bassist Gene Simmons talked about being one of the examples of the American dream and stated that KISS was more successful than The Beatles and The Rolling Stones while he was sharing some details from ‘Biography: KISStory.’
The latest documentary of KISS entitled ‘Biography: KISStory’ is a four-hour length movie which is based on the band’s fifty years in the music industry. The film will be premiered on A&E in the US on June 27 and June 28 from 9 to 11 pm ET/PT. It was directed by D.J. Viola and includes famous musicians Dave Grohl and Tom Morello as the special guest stars.
During his recent TV appearance, Gene Simmons recalled the time when he came to America as an eight-year-old boy while he was talking about their latest documentary. He stated that his mother had survived the concentration camps in Nazi Germany and he is living proof of the existence of the American dream. According to Simmons, even if you have nothing, you can be whoever and whatever you want in the United States.
In the interview, Gene mentioned that KISS’ success and fame were also the proofs of the American dream. Simmons said that even though they had neither experience nor support, KISS, which was consisted of four knuckleheads, became the best rock band in the world with the help of their great efforts. KISS bassist claimed that they were the number one band even as early as the 1970s and ahead of both The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
Simmons stated in the interview that:
“I’m the luckiest person who ever walked the face of the planet. I’m proof positive the American dream is alive and alive and well. I came here as an eight-year-old boy with my mother who was a concentration camp survivor of Nazi Germany as a matter of fact. You know, I come from Israel supposedly the promised land. Let me tell you something, America is the only promised land on the face of the planet where anybody can come from any skin toning and religion.
With all its problems, America continues to be the bastion, the light that lights up the world which the reason why everybody wants to come here understandably. So, KISStory really is the story of four knuckleheads who ascended the stairs and made the American dream proof positive that anything is possible. Even four knuckleheads of the streets of New York who had no resume, no experience, no expertise. We put together a band that even as early as the 1977’s was the number one band on the planet and ahead of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.”
